Projects

•Youth: The club promotes the Four-Way Test with elementary school presentations by Club members and middle school essay contests; provide student recognition; sponsor three to four delegates to the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Conference; and provide $5,000 through seven scholarships for post-secondary education.

•Boys & Girls Home: The Roxboro Club actively participates in Rotary’s commitment to the Boys & Girls Home at Lake Waccamaw through field trips; providing material needs for the Rotary Cottage.

•Needy Families: Our members share in Person Counties annual fund-raising for the needy by contributing and delivering food and other items families in need at Christmas.

•The Rotary Foundation: We support the programs of the Foundation through annual & planned giving; by participation in Group Study Exchange; sponsoring Ambassadorial Scholars; and in the development of matching grants. We recently participated in an exchange and hosted an eight pair group from Australia.

•Golf Tournament: A golf tournament was held at Cedar Grove Golf Course and experienced a good turnout for our first event. The club cleared approximately $1,000 that was donated to the Person County Museum and to Safe-Haven.

•Picnic Shelter: In the Fall of 1997, we built a picnic shelter at Bushy Fork Park with Rotary volunteers, who worked very hard and turned out the best shelter in the program, as reported by the Person County Recreation Department.

•Hunger: The goal this year is to provide 1,000,000 ready made meals to be sent to the Congo.

•Dictionary Project: We are currently providing all third graders dictionaries in Person County.  We are also providing dictionaries and thesauruses to the Charter High School.
